This week we’re back to the main Mahidol campus. Yesterday, we worked with orthopedic cases in the outpatient clinic, and got to interact with more Mahidol PT students! Our PT today had four of the 3rd year students (of a 4 year bachelor’s program) and each one got to explain and present their patient and case to us. It was practice for them to explain reasoning and treatment decisions in English, and we got to ask lots of questions and they asked plenty about what we’d do in each situation. We got to share some exercises with them, and show how to modify for their patients, because therex is a much smaller focus in Thailand PT.

After seeing patients, we got to talk a lot with the other students about how different the programs are in Thailand and the US. It was really strange for them that Drew and I have different bachelor’s degrees and that undergrad isn’t necessarily focused on physical therapy. A lot of times they seem really intimidated by the fact that we study for seven years, but once we break down the amount of time that is actually PT-centric, it’s about the same.

Today, we had a little free time to wander the campus, so here’s some more pics!
