Salaya campus

Last week we had our first day at the Salaya campus, which is outside of Bangkok about half an hour, and is the main Mahidol University campus. It’s won awards for green initiatives and has electric tram service and trees everywhere (hot tip- if you’ve got allergies, bring ALL the meds).

We worked with therapists in the orthopedic clinic today. Weirdly, the most common diagnoses are De Quervains and frozen shoulder. They used either ultrasound or a laser for nearly every patient at the end of the session, to increase blood flow and promote healing. Typically each session would start with giving the patient a hot or cold pack for about 20 minutes, so modalities seem to be pretty big here.

Mobilization continues to be the dominant treatment method as well, with one or two exercises at the end.
